Thank you to Jantine Zandbergen for writing about my work today on Bleaq, a blog that focuses on “the melancholic, bleak side of traditional art, illustration, design and photography”. Check out the posts on Bleaq for some inspiration!
This Saturday night, I will be in a group show at Flower Pepper Gallery in Pasadena, CA called “Twice-Told Tales”, and it features work inspired by the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. My painting is an interpretation of the evil queen from Snow White — I wanted her to embody both beauty and decay, as well as majesty and menace. Her large golden crown is comprised of radiating daggers, and it is ultimately her evil ways that trap her like a prisoner.
